Difference
Nothing about the Zoom meeting changes
Whisperer does not start a recording, does not ask the host to start one, and does not connect to your Zoom account. From inside the meeting there is no way to tell it is running, because from the meeting's point of view nothing is.
That also means the usual gate disappears: you do not need to be the host, and you do not need the host to have enabled anything.

Limits
Read these before you rely on it for minutes
A finished recording can be uploaded: the Meetings section takes one file up to 25 MB — mp3, m4a, wav, ogg, flac, aac, plus mp4 and webm, from which the audio track is used. What is missing is bulk upload of a whole archive; and it spends the same minutes a live call does.
The split is your microphone against everything else. For a two-person Zoom that is a complete attribution; for eight people it separates you from the rest and no further.

Questions about Zoom transcripts
Do I have to be the host?
No. Whisperer does not use Zoom's own recording or transcription, so host privileges and host settings are irrelevant to it.
Is a recording created?
No Zoom recording is started. Whisperer keeps the transcript, and audio is sent for recognition in short chunks as the call runs rather than stored as a file you then have to manage.
Can I get a transcript in another language?
The session language is set before the call and recognition follows it — Whisper supports more than 90 languages. A live translation line under the transcript is a separate feature, available on the paid plans.
What if I join Zoom by phone?
Then the audio never reaches the computer and there is nothing to capture. Whisperer needs the call to be playing on the machine it is running on.
Where does the transcript go afterwards?
Into your account history, where it becomes searchable and feeds the meeting map. If you would rather it were not stored, no-logs mode keeps nothing after the session ends.
The check takes one call
Run it on any Zoom meeting and look for the two labels. If both are there, the transcript is complete and everything built on top of it will be too.
